Culver City and Surrounding Areas “Neighbors helping Neighbors” through WPV

The WPV, formally known as “Westchester Playa Village” is now maintaining the same acronym, however they are adopting a new meaning to the same letters. The purpose of this, you ask? Well, it certainly describes their broad range of services a whole lot better. Now, WPV will now also mean “Westside Pacific Villages” but it will still continue business as “Westchester Playa Village,” as well.

For those of you who are familiar with WPV, do not worry. What they do and who they are will not change in the least. They are still the same wonderful non-profit organization in our community that focuses primarily on the motto “neighbors helping neighbors.” Their values and mission will remain un-impacted by the acronym change.

WPV has approximately 200 villages across the US that help adults in their later-years stay active and independent. What is so special about the WPV program is that all of the “activity” offered can remain in the familiarity and comfort of the participants’ surrounding neighborhoods and own homes.

There is a large group of volunteers who aid these individuals with a broad range of daily assistance. They help transport the participants to and from appointments, assist with household tasks and errand running, and even provide home visits to tackle loneliness. Lastly, WPV also offers many opportunities for social gatherings and programs for wellness too. It’s extraordinary!

WPV was founded 6 years ago under the name of “Westchester Village Network.” During that time they primarily focused on Westchester. Approximately a year later they expanded to Playa del Rey, Marina del Rey and surrounding areas of Culver City. Being a Culver City Realtor and selling a lot of Culver City real estate, I have certainly stayed in the loop with WPV. After all, my career mainly focuses on Culver City homes for sale and Culver City Condos for sale. WPV members have either used my services, or will in the future.

I look forward to seeing the expansion of WPV. Word on the street is that they will soon reach Venice and Mar Vista and also further south in El Segundo.
