Culver City Sister City Committee Hosts Quarterly Dinner

Image is the Culver City Sister City Committee logo. The Culver City Sister City Committee will be having its quarterly membership dinner on Wednesday, March 6.  Martin Feinberg, Realtor, notes that the event will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Culver City located at 6161 W. Centinela Blvd.

The Sister City Committee’s mission is to maintain relationships and build friendships with Culver City’s four sister cities, which are Kaizuka Japan, Uruapan Mexico, Iksan South Korea, and Lethbridge Canada.  The committee often focuses on encouraging direct involvement from Culver City Real Estate area youth and fostering international cooperation.

According to the Culver City Sister City Committee website, “The Sister City concept started in 1956, some years after the end of the Second World War, during the Eisenhower presidential administration. A worldwide network of sister city relations was established to help rebuild nation-to-nation relationships and foster global harmony. Efforts were made to create “citizen diplomats” by opening communication between peoples of the world. Out of this effort came the Sister Cities International organization.  In December 10, 1962, the City Council established the Culver City Sister City Committee (CCSCC) for the cultural betterment of the City and its people.”

Membership in CCSCC is not required in order to attend the membership dinner on March 6. The program for that night will include an update of CCSCC’s activities, including the upcoming marathon exchanges between Culver City and Japan.  Attendees are invited to dress up in attire representing one of our Sister Cities in Mexico, Japan, Korea, Canada or Italy, but it is not required.

No-host cocktails start at 6:00 p.m. and dinner is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. The cost is $45 per person and entrée choices are Sesame Crusted Salmon, Oregano Chicken and Thai Vegetable Curry. Appetizers will be provided and a complementary glass of wine will be served with dinner.

Martin Feinberg, Culver City Realtor, notes that those interested in attending the dinner should RSVP to Nancy at 310-916-6842 or njrfroggie@aol.com.  They should also mail their check (payable to CCSCC) to P.O. Box 1072, Culver City, CA 90232-1072. The deadline for reservations is next Wednesday, February 27.
