Front and Center Theatre Collaborative Serves the Culver City Community

There are many things that make Culver City Real Estate remarkable, but one of the most impressive is the availability of so much art and entertainment. This is especially true when it comes to the Culver City Unified School District’s Front and Center Theatre Collaborative.

The CCUSD Front and Center Theatre Collaborative is an organization that connects teaching artists from professional theatre groups with local funding, enabling the school district to offer the highest concentration of theatre arts programming per student in the Los Angeles County school district. More than 4,500 CCUSD students have the chance each year to engage in storytelling, set design, movie making, improv, playwriting, performing, and being a part of a theatre audience.

Janice Pober, Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Social Responsibility at Sony Pictures Entertainment started the Front and Center Theatre Collaborative in 2009 in response to school budget cuts that affected the arts program. After a year of planning and looking for sponsors the Collaborative was launched in 2010 and provides its services at no cost to CCUSD students, families, and teachers. Martin Feinberg, Realtor, enjoys the arts and the appreciates those artists that are willing to provide their services for free or at deep discounts for the benefit of the community.

The program is in its 8th year and is as strong as ever. For the 2016-2017 school year the Collaborative has six partners offering almost $200,000 worth of programming, including 475 hours of instruction and more than 30 assemblies and field trips. The goal, according to CCUSD Superintendent Dr. Joshua Arnold, isn’t to turn each child into an actor but to “broaden their educational base and offer them different ways of processing the learning that they are getting in the rest of the curriculum.”  The program is the first in the country and Martin Feinberg Culver City Realtor, is pleased to see Culver City Schools leading the way.

To learn more please attend the Front and Center Theatre Extravaganza on February 10th. The event is free, open to all ages, and will be held from 5-8:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Complex.
