Culver City School District Crowns a New Spelling Bee Champion

Culver City Real Estate offers many amazing benefits, one of which is access to an excellent school district. That school district was on display this last week when the 12th annual School District Spelling Bee crowned Elisabeth Chu as the ultimate winner.

Elisabeth, a fourth grader from Farragut Elementary, beat out 23 other spellers from the district’s five elementary schools and Culver City Middle School by successfully spelling “thrombosis”.   She took home a first-place trophy and $200 in cash. Elisabeth will also advance to the Los Angeles County Spelling Bee on March 29th. The winner at that event will move on to the State Spelling Bee in Sonoma in May.

Second place winner Joshua Lea won a trophy and $150 in cash while third place went to Hayley Dowdell, a sixth grader from Culver Middle School, who received a trophy and $100. All 23 students who took part received a certificate of commendation signed by School District Superintendent Joshua Arnold, who congratulated each student for making it to the final round in Culver City. Martin Feinberg, Realtor, would also like to congratulate all who participated.

The Spelling Bee was sponsored by the Fineshriber Family Foundation, which provided the cash and prizes for the event. Wendy Hamill, President of the Culver City Education Foundation, presented the trophies, cash, and certificates on behalf of the FFF. Martin Feinberg, Culver City Realtor, is proud to work in a community that supports students and provides many wonderful academic opportunities.
