Local listing agent Martin Feinberg has learned that the Culver City Police Department will be holding a DUI/Driver License Checkpoint this Friday, August 30, from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. at an undisclosed location somewhere within the Culver City Real Estate area.

Martin Feinberg, Realtor, also noted that the Culver City Police Department is joining in the national enforcement campaign “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” this month and next.  This means that between August 16 and September 2 the CCPD will have additional officers on the road watching for drivers that look like they could be driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

The CCPD press release stated, “As summer comes to a close, the Culver City Police Department is urging drivers not to get behind the wheel after drinking, or using drugs that impact their ability to drive safely.  Labor Day Weekend remains one of the deadliest times of year for alcohol-involved crashes.”

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, two people were killed and 31 others injured on Labor Day in California in 2018.

Culver City Chief of Police Scott Bixby said, “There are so many ways to get home without driving under the influence.  Driving while drunk or high is dangerous, irresponsible and causes too many senseless tragedies. We hope that drivers get the message that driving impaired will never be tolerated.”

“If you plan on drinking, or are taking medications or drugs that can affect your driving ability” the Culver City Police Department has asked that you “designate a sober driver or use a ride-share service.  If you see someone driving impaired, call 9-1-1.”

The press release also stated that funding for the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” DUI enforcement is provided in part by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
