CicLAvia: Culver City meets Mar Vista and Palms Coming in March

According to the CicLAvia website, the group “is a 501(c)3 non-profit that catalyzes vibrant public spaces, active transportation and good health through car-free streets. CicLAvia engages with people to transform our relationship with our communities and with each other.  Inspired by Bogotá’s weekly ciclovía, CicLAvia temporarily closes streets to car traffic and opens them to Los Angelenos to use as a public park.  CicLAvia connects communities to each other across an expansive city, creating a safe place to bike, walk, skate, roll, and dance through Los Angeles.”

Those who are new to this event should know that the event is free.  It will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m.  All streets along the route will be closed to car traffic and will be open for people to walk, skate, bike, play, and explore. Cross streets will be open to vehicle traffic so participants should be prepared. CicLAvia is not a race and there is no starting or ending point.  Participants should begin wherever they want and go wherever they would like. Non-motorized traffic at CicLAvia flows in two directions just like regular traffic.  Check out some more safety tips here.
