Long Time Culver City Resident Passes at 90

I am saddened to announce that a long time resident of Culver City, Julia G. Weiss Mullen Browner, passed away on March 5, 2016. She left behind 3 sons, a daughter, a sister and four grandchildren. Born in 1925, she was 4 of 8 children in her family. Julia was 90 when she passed.

A Los Angeles native, Julia attended Dorsey High School and then continued on to UCLA. After college she married a naval officer who later died in 1976. They were married over 30 years and had 4 children together, all whom went through the Culver City school system.

Julia’s family belonged Culver City’s Temple Akiba and of course everyone in the community, as well as temple members, were all devastated by the news that she lost her 5 year battle to colon cancer. During her life, however, Julia helped other families in need dealing with similar struggles with the very same deadly disease.

Subsequent to her efforts with other cancer patients, Julia also helped Russian immigrants in Los Angeles adjust to cultural changes and life in the US. Aside from her humanitarian efforts, Julia enjoyed playing Mahjong and Scrabble. She was infamous for her yearly Passover dinners and 4th of July celebrations.

As a Culver City Realtor of almost 30 years, I can certainly acknowledge those who deserve recognition in this town. Julia would be one of them. Aside mainly focusing on homes for sale in Culver City, as well as condos for Sale in Culver City, I like to focus on amazing people in our community who truly made a difference, and honoring their lives if they have passed.

Julia Goldy Mullen Browner was buried at Hillside Memorial Park next to her husband, Calvin. Rest in peace, Julia.
