Park your Tree Program Returns to Culver City Through January

Image is a decorated Christmas tree.Culver City has brought back its Park your Tree program this year for Culver City residents. Those living within the Culver City Real Estate area will be able to drop off their trees at different locations to have their tree composted for free.

Residents may bring their trees to one of four parks beginning on December 26, 2017. These parks are: Fox Hills Park at Green Valley Circle and Buckingham Parkway, Culver City, Veterans Memorial Park, 4117 Overland Ave., Syd Kronenthal Park, 3459 McManus Ave., and Culver West Alexander Park, 4162 Wade St., Los Angeles.

Culver City Environmental Programs and Operations staff will provide large bins at each park site and will regularly collect the trees placed in those specific containers. All trees must be placed in the appropriate bins in order to be collected. The program will run until the end of January 2018.

For those residents who prefer to handle their own trees, they may still place chopped-up trees in their green organics container on scheduled collection days.

Martin Feinberg, Culver City Realtor, reminds residents who wish to recycle their trees that all decorations, lighting, and tree stands must be removed prior to disposal.  Flocked trees and those coated with fire retarded will also be accepted.

According to the Culver City Public Works Department and the Culver City Fire Department, dry trees are dangerous and contribute to house fires every year. Live Christmas trees should be disposed of after Christmas as soon as possible to cut down on fire hazards, thus making the Park your Tree program not just convenient but also smart.

Martin Feinberg, Realtor, encourages those who are looking for more information on the Park your Tree program to please call Julianne Zuccardi, Environmental Programs & Operations Business Recycling Specialist at 310-253-6423.
