September is National Preparedness Month and Culver City is Taking Part

Image is a sign that says Disasters Happen, Prepare Now, Learn How.Disasters can happen at any time without notice, and once a disaster occurs, it’s too late to prepare for one.  2017 was a devastating year for some people and some communities, with hurricanes and wildfires happening in many states across the U.S.  2018 has also had its share of disaster-caused heartache. Martin Feinberg, Realtor, notes that such disasters can help remind us of the importance of being prepared. Advanced preparation can help not only our loved ones and ourselves, but it can also help our community.  National Preparedness Month is meant to help citizens with that goal.

National Preparedness Month, which is recognized each September across the nation, provides an opportunity to assess our level of preparedness for different scenarios, and improve in that area where needed.

Within the Culver City Real Estate area, 2018’s National Preparedness Month is focused on planning.  The overarching theme is:  “Disasters Happen. Prepare Now. Learn How.”

Local listing agent Martin Feinberg encourages everyone to check out the Culver City government website, which offers vital information and resources to help each Culver City resident prepare for any eventual disaster.  The website reminds readers:

“Take time to learn lifesaving skills − such as CPR and first aid, check your insurance policies and coverage for the hazards you may face, such as flood, earthquakes, and wildfires. Make sure to consider the costs associated with disasters and save for an emergency. Also, know how to take practical safety steps like shutting off water and gas.”

The National Preparedness Month page also helps residents organize their preparedness by dividing each week of the month into themes.  This week’s theme is “Make and Practice Your Plan.”

Next week, Week 4, of National Preparedness Month, the theme is “Save For an Emergency.”  Be sure and check out the “Culver City in the News” city page to learn more.
